Things like keys, PDA's, or perhaps even your sofa? Well, now there is a way to locate all of these items. Sharper Image has produced a "gadget" that will help you find what you have mis- placed. The Wireless RF Electronic Locater is the new fad in key chains. Basically, you get a color coded rectangular box that allows you to designate four different buttons to something that you frequently lose. In other words, the red button may be for your car keys. The red button will also have a matching attachment for your key chain. Now things get really interesting. If you cannot find your car keys, you simply push the red button and the attachment will emit a loud series of beeps. Guess what? Yep, that is all that this "thing" does. That is it! To make matters worse, you need to be within 30 feet of the missing object- while carrying the handset- in order for it to work. While this may not be a big deal to you, I never (Knock on wood) lose my keys in my apartment. If I am going to lose them it will likely because they fall out of my briefcase, golf bag, or pocket. The locater is essentially worthless in this regard. Therefore, you better lose your keys in a geographically agreeable area or you are wasting your money. Sharper Image likes to market the product as useful for various different items. Yes, things that you lose or mis- place as frequently as your keys? What are these objects? Well, the ads show your cell phone, PDA, TV remote and bike helmet. Again, if I am to lose my cell phone it will not be in my apartment (and if I did I could always pick up another phone and call the number). If I lose it, I will likely leave it at a bar. Now I do not know about you, but I am not going to be the one caught carrying around a handset (4 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/2") in a bar in order to find my cell phone or PDA- especially after having to leave the bar and go home and retrieve the hand set and the return. I can hear the chants of DORK already. Location: Tacoma it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests ... Read More »
